This tutored masterclass will pair a range of top quality Rive and Cartizze with a menu created by Eataly’s chefs, using authentic Italian produce. Sarah Abbott MW and Diego Tomasi will lead guests through the personalities of the different Rive and the Cartizze vineyard, and share the latest developments from Conegliano Valdobbiadene.
The Rive and Cartizze wine designations are unique to the denomination of Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG, and represent the peak of prosecco. These historic sites produce limited quantities, but are notable for their high quality and long heritage. Rive are 52 named historical single vineyards that are unique to Conegliano Valdobbiadene, the original heart of prosecco. These high, exposed slopes ripen grapes of distinctive character, intensity and vivacity. Many Rive are made in Brut and Extra Brut styles, and are renowned in Italy for their excellence with food. The Cartizze vineyard comprises 107 hectares in the steepest hills of Valdobbiadene, and has been designated since 1969 as Valdobbiadene Superiore di Cartizze.
Founded in 2007, Eataly was born from Oscar Farinetti’s idea to gather high-quality food at sustainable and reasonable prices for all, celebrate Italian biodiversity, and create an informal, natural and simple place to Eat, Shop, Learn, all under one roof. Cheese and pasta are made on-site. The wines will be paired with a menu created from the authentic produce showcased here.
