A remarkable technical tasting that explores the extraordinary journey of Villa Bogdano 1880’s ancient Tocai Friulano vines and their potential for the future of Lison DOCG.
Villa Bogdano 1880 is an historic estate producing organic wines from old vines on the border of Friuli and Veneto in Northeast Italy. The estate is home to 18 hectares of historic vineyards, with most old vines planted between 1943 and 1960. Of particular significance is their oldest plot: 117 Tocai Friulano vines planted in the late 1880s and cultivated using the Cassone Padovano training method—a technique developed by Benedictine monks in the Middle Ages.
Thanks to the meticulous restoration efforts led by Professors Carlo Petrussi and Mario Fregoni, these vines have been carefully preserved and brought back to their full potential.
At this exclusive technical briefing and tasting, guests will have the first-ever opportunity to taste a special micro-vinification from these ancient vines—just 300 bottles and 11 magnums from the 2020 vintage.
This micro-vinification marks the beginning of an exciting project that investigates how old vines and distinct terroir express themselves in a wine’s profile.
We look forward to sharing a journey rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and innovation.
This tasting is now full. If you would like to join the waiting list, or receive further information about this project, or to be notified of future tastings featuring these wines, please email Belinda@swirlwinegroup.com.
