the Consorzio of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG
at
Institute of Masters of Wine
6 Riverlight Quay, Kirtling Street (off Cringle Street), London, SW11 8EA
from
15:00 to 17:00
Building on our sessions exploring Rive and terroir, this workshop, with Sarah Abbott MW and Diego Tomasi, Director of the Consortium, invites you to discover the mosaic of soils that characterise the DOCG Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco.
Nestled between Venice and the Dolomites, this distinctive landscape of continuous rolling hills is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Led by Prof. Diego Tomasi, this workshop draws on his years of research into the relationship between soil type and the flavour compounds of grapes and wine. Prof. Tomasi is Director of the Consorzio of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco, a former teacher and researcher at CREA and the author of an award-winning study on terroir and flavour.
Through the tasting of carefully selected wines, we will explore how the region’s diverse soil types are expressed in the glass, before examining the importance of the Charmat method as a tool that enables Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco to achieve a level of complexity and quality worthy of serious analytical attention.
