This hugely popular webinar featured Master of Wine Sarah Abbott in conversation with the irrepressible Oz Clarke OBE, probably Britain’s best-known and most-loved wine expert.
Oz has just authored a brilliant new guide to English and Welsh wine and talked about his interest the wines of Great Britain, why he wanted to write this book now, and why, in particular, the Classic Method sparkling wines of Great Britain are getting so much attention.
April 2020 saw the launch of Swirl in the Cloud, a series of webinars and virtual tastings for Trade & Press, wine lovers and aficionados alike.
Our first virtual wine event was for the National Wine Agency of Georgia, on 23rd April (St George’s day, by happy coincidence). “Georgian Wine Essentials” was attended by 100 wine professionals from the UK, US and beyond, and covered the fundamentals of Georgian wine terroir, varieties, producers and techniques.
During this fascinating webinar, we looked at how ancient wine informs modern day Georgia, and explored why Georgian wine is expanding so quickly in the UK. Through an a presentation led by Sarah Abbott MW and questions and answers we looked at Georgian’s answer to popular styles such as Malbec and Pinot Grigio, and explored the historical and contemporary relevance of unique Georgian specialities, such as Amber Wine made in clay Qvevri.
