The Event in Social Media

This fully subscribed webinar on Georgian grape varietals presented by Sarah Abbott MW was aimed specifically for those working in the wine and hospitality trades, media and wine education.

Georgia has a rich culture and history and is one of the oldest – probably THE oldest – wine-producing nation on earth, with 8,000 years of unbroken grape growing, 500 indigenous wine grape varieties, and a rich wine-making heritage it made for a fascinating webinar.

During this webinar, we made a theoretical journey into Georgian grape varieties, where to find them, how to understand them, and how they relate to familiar European grapes.  We explored the history, planting, survival, and wine styles of these wonderful indigenous grape varieties, giving examples of key wines, regional characteristics, typical winemaking treatments in both classic and qvevri methods, and listings of importers and wholesalers with example wines in the UK.

The website also has useful information on Georgian wine regions, grape varieties, producers, etc.
